With more than 20 million kilograms of unwanted goods dumped annually, the Salvos take the equivalent of 4,000 truckloads to the tip.

The dumping of unwanted goods outside the stores after hours is a major problem. When items are dumped overnight, any quality goods are stolen. Leftover junk has to be collected and taken to landfill. Last year alone the Salvos paid out $5 million for rubbish disposal.

What you can do

1. Think of the Salvos during your Spring Cleaning
2. Put aside good quality surplus furniture, homewares and clothing
3. Find your nearest store or call 13 SALVOS (13 72 58)
4. Drop off clothing or goods during store hours or
5. Call us to arrange for collection of bulky items
